Changing it now would probably lead to a lot of confusion, which wouldn't necessarily fade over time unless Mojang also got on board. Tag: Undo
     
20:26 (cur | prev) +436 Epixix talk contribs The term "packet" is ambiguous since it can either refer to an IP Protocol Data Unit (IP PDU/IP Packet), or in more loose terms, any grouping of bytes that is sent over the network. "Message" removes the confusion as it is already established in terms like "reliable message stream"; for example, Minecraft implements a "reliable message stream" over TCP, and TCP itself implements a "reliable byte stream".
