20:37 (cur | prev) -436 LassiPulkkinen talk contribs Undo revision 19452 by Epixix (talk); I agree with this in principle, but "packet" is unfortunately a very established term in the community and is also used in the Minecraft source code. Changing it now would probably lead to a lot of confusion, which wouldn't necessarily fade over time unless Mojang also got on board. Tag: Undo | ||||

20:26 (cur | prev) +436 Epixix talk contribs The term "packet" is ambiguous since it can either refer to an IP Protocol Data Unit (IP PDU/IP Packet), or in more loose terms, any grouping of bytes that is sent over the network. "Message" removes the confusion as it is already established in terms like "reliable message stream"; for example, Minecraft implements a "reliable message stream" over TCP, and TCP itself implements a "reliable byte stream". 00:14 | Protocol Encryption diffhist -72 LassiPulkkinen talk contribs Good edit otherwise, but there's no way the Encryption Response is sent encrypted; that would be and chicken and egg problem. Removing the sentence completely since it's already mentioned in the preceding paragraph. Also, slight wording and typo fixes. |
